On 20 October 2025, Hong Kong Chu Hai College joyfully celebrated its 78th anniversary with an Alumni Day, welcoming over 100 alumni back for a series of festive events and updates on the College’s recent developments.
The day began with a friendly basketball match between an alumni team and the College team, officiated by Professor, Associate Vice-President (Academic & Research). Prior to the game, Professor Robert Li, along with Associate Professor Tracy Lee, Associate Registrar and Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication, and Assistant Professor Yan Peng, Associate Registrar and Acting Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, presented commemorative gifts to the players and team leaders from both sides in recognition of their participation. The match showcased not only skilled play and strong teamwork but also embodied the spirit of "friendship first."
Following the game, a networking luncheon provided an invaluable platform for dialogue between alumni and the College’s management. In her address, Interim President Ms. Jane Zhang emphasized that alumni are a cornerstone of the College's ongoing development. She noted that the current student population has reached 2,000, positioning the College among the top private tertiary institutions in Hong Kong for the number of master's programs offered and the scale of its Mainland and international student body.
Professor Hon S. Chan, Vice-President (Academic & Research), shared the College's teaching and research achievements through a video presentation. He announced that the College has been awarded HK$5.33 million in funding from the Research Grants Council for the 2025/26 academic year. The supported projects cover cutting-edge fields such as historical and cultural heritage, medical technology, smart cities, and artificial intelligence, showcasing the College's strong research capabilities.
The event also included an alumni sharing session, where representative Mr. Yeung Kam Kuen expressed his deep affection for the College and his aspirations for its future. Alumni were then invited to visit an exhibition at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.
The Alumni Day concluded on a warm and cheerful note, reinforcing the College's commitment to strengthening ties with its alumni through various engagement activities, uniting their strengths to build a brighter future together.
