In the beginning of Chinese New Year in 2025, Student Affairs Office of Hong Kong Chu Hai College organized the “The Golden Dragon and Lion Dance Performance” on 11 Feb 2025, aiming to bring good fortunes to all students and staff as well as to celebrate this significant festival and also promote traditional customs.
The event commenced at noon at the College main entrance, with two Student Ambassadors as MCs. The officiating guests included Ms. Jane ZHANG, the Interim President, Mr. CHEN Liangyong, the Vice President (Administrative) and Prof. Robert LI, the Associate Vice President (Academic). They officiated the ceremony by eye-dotting and head decorations for the golden dragon and lions. Chinese New Year Lucky Bags for the Year of the Snake were distributed, symbolising good luck, fortune and wealth.
Witnessed by more than two hundred students and staff, the two lions performed a lot of difficult moves, including the traditional “plucking the greens” movements which has the meaning of bringing good wealth.
The event concluded with a group photo of the officiating guests, all staff and students with the giant golden dragon and lions, marking a perfect end to the celebration.
