
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of the Venerable Master Jingyin (PhD), Chairman of the Board of Baolian Zen Temple and the eighth-generation abbot, who also served as the Director of the Buddhist Studies Center at Hong Kong Chu Hai College. He departed this life on December 22, 2025 (the third day of the eleventh month in the Year of the Yi Si) at the age of sixty-two.
Since joining the College in 2017, the Venerable Master Jingyin made remarkable contributions to our development, particularly in the areas of Buddhist programs, research, and student cultivation, as well as the application of Buddhist teachings and meditation across various sectors of society. Renowned for his moral integrity and commitment to education, he was admired for his engaging and humorous teaching style and his prolific scholarly output, which earned him the deep respect and affection of his students. He was a passionate advocate for “lifelong learning and practical application,” emphasizing the importance of integrating Buddhist principles into everyday life. Under his visionary leadership, the Buddhist Studies Center flourished, extending its influence and positively impacting many individuals.
Although the Venerable Master Jingyin has departed from this world, his legacy will endure. Hong Kong Chu Hai College extends its heartfelt condolences and sincere gratitude for his invaluable leadership and contributions. We will forever cherish his teachings and virtues, honoring the profound impact he has made on our lives and the lives of countless others.
